Lane, Jacob

Dates: 1882-1914

War Service: Jacob, or Jack, Lane served as a Private with 1st Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment and his service number was 7338. He was killed on 13th October 1914 and is commemorated on Le Touret Memorial.

Location of Memorial: He is remembered on the St Pauls, Deptford WW1 War Memorial.

Details: Jacob Lane was born c1884 in Faversham, Kent.
In 1901 he is living at 59 Watson Street, Deptford with his parents Walter and Ellen and siblings Daisy aged 11 and Bennie aged 9.

He married Georgina Glenney on 8 October 1905 at All Souls Church, Newington.

In 1911 he was living at 30 Barkworth Road, Camberwell with his wife Georgina and children Dorothy Brenda aged 5, Nellie Grace aged 4, John aged 2 and Ethel aged 4 months. They also had another daughter Grace L born June 1913.

Before joining the army, Jacob was employed as a tinsmith.

His brother Benjamin is also commemorated on St. Pauls memorial.
