Lane, Benjamin

Dates: 1892-1914

War Service: Benjamin Lane served as a Private with the 2nd Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers and his Service Number was 9972. He died on 31st October 1914 and he is commemorated on the Menin gate Memorial.

Location of Memorial: He is remembered on the St Pauls, Deptford WW1 War Memorial.

Details: Benjamin Lane was born between January and March 1892 in Wood Green, Tottenham.

In 1901 he recorded living at 59 Watson Street, Deptford with his parents, Walter and Ellen, and his siblings Jacob, aged 14, and Daisy, aged 11.

He also had another brother, Walter, and two other sisters, Mary and Ellen.

His brother Jacob is also commemorated on the memorial at St Paul's.
