Second Lieutenant JOHN MYDDELTON JONES of the 17th Battalion Durham Light Infantry died on 1 July 1916, the first day of the Battle of the Somme. He was 25.

He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the memorial in St Bartholomew’s church, Sydenham.

Details:
He was born in Clapton, the son of Thomas Augustus Jones and Marian Jones.
