Second Lieutenant JAMES THOMAS (”Ginger”) JONES of the 20th Battalion the London Regiment was killed on 24 August 1917, aged 20.

He is buried and remembered in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the war memorials at St Olave’s and Brockley School and on the 20th London Regiment Roll of Honour

Details:
He was the son of David and Mary Jones, of 13 Amersham Grove, New Cross. He was born in Aberaeron, Cardiganshire. He was educated at Brockley School and won a scholarship to St Olave’s Grammar School, which he attended from 1912 to 1915.
