Rifleman R/7893 ERNEST ARTHUR JOHN of 4th battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps died of wounds at Le Havre on 27 May 1915, aged 25.

He enlisted at Deptford on 3 December 1914 and went to France on 3 May 1915.

He is buried in Ste. Marie Cemetery, Le Havre.

He is also remembered on the Sydenham South Suburban Gas Works war memorial.

Details:
When enlisting he gave his occupation as gasworks labourer. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Thomas John. He married Susannah Thompson in Sydenham on 3 April 1915.
