Jennings, John Caleb

Dates: 1877-1915

War Service: John Caleb Jennings served as a Private with the Army Pay Corps in Shrewsbury and his service number was 2032. He died on 7th October 1915 aged 38.

Location of Memorial: He is buried in Brockley cemetery, where his name is recorded on the screen wall listing those whose graves have no headstone.

Details: John Caleb Jennings was the son of John and Sophia Jennings born in 1877. He was baptised on 27th May 1877 at Christ Church, Bermondsey. At this time the family were living at Blue Anchor Road.

He married Alice Eliza Caroline Hayter on the 26th June 1899 at St Luke's Church, Deptford.

In 1911 he was recorded living at 71 Florence Road, New Cross with his wife Alice and children Leonard, Violet and Marjorie. He was employed as a compositor in the printing industry. They also had another child John Albert Jennings born 1912.
