Private JOHN JAMES JEFFERY of 22 Battalion Manchester Regiment was killed in action on 14 March 1917, aged 34. He enlisted on 28 August 1915 and went to France in May 1916. He served with the Royal West Kents until January 1917 when he was posted to the Manchester Regiment.

He is buried in Gommecourt British Cemetery No. 2.

He is remembered on the memorial in All Saints church, Blackheath

Details:
He was the son of Mrs Mary Jeffery, of 14, South Vale Road, Blackheath, the family lived there 1914 - 1927. When he enlisted he gave his occupation as plumber's mate.
