Sergeant W/93609 JEAN E. BLUNT of the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) died on 16 September 1942, aged 28.

At the time of her death she was serving with 542 Battery, 152 Heavy Anti Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery. By this stage of the war mixed anti-aircraft batteries were becoming common with women undertaking all the operational tasks apart from actually firing the guns.

She is buried in the churchyard of St John the Baptist, Adel, near Leeds.

She is also remembered on the memorial at St Bartholomew’s church, Sydenham.

She was the daughter of Davenport Fabian Cartwright Blunt and Edith Isobel Blunt of Sydenham.
