Lance Corporal JOHN WILLIAM IVEY, 3rd battalion Coldstream Guards died on 4 March 1915, aged 32.

He is buried in Boulogne Eastern cemetery.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the war memorial at Catford police station.

Details:
He was born in Camden Town in the autumn of 1882, the son of Charles and Martha Ivey. He married Florence Knapman in the summer of 1906 and they lived at 135 Davenport Road, Catford. He served as a constable in the Metropolitan Police at Camberwell and Lewisham.

Extract from Police Orders of Saturday 8th August 1914:

Police Reservists
The undermentioned officers having been directed to rejoin the Army, for service with the Colours, will be retained on the Strength of Force as Supernumaries “off pay” and are to be so shown on the Morning State. They will receive pay as shown : - 4th inst.
