War Service:
Private 15049 STANLEY HOWARD of 1st battalion, Coldstream Guards died on 15 September 1916. The rank of private is correct as ‘guardsman’ was not introduced until 1919.

He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme .

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the war memorial at St Hilda’s church, Brockley.

Details:
He was born in Peckham in 1894 and lived in Crofton Park. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. R. Howard, of The Barrel Inn, Sedgely Rd. West, Tipton, Staffs.
