Hollis, Ernest

War Service: Ernest Hollis served as a Private with 2nd/20th Battalion The London Regiment in Egypt, Palestine and France. His service number was 634368. The battalion had returned to France in July 1918 and Private Hollis was killed in action on 30th August 1918. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial.

Location of Memorial: Ernest Hollis is remembered on 20th London Regiment Roll of Honour.

Details: Ernest Hollis is the son of Henry and Elizabeth Hollis and the elder brother of Lillian Hollis. Before the First World War Ernest was employed by the Metropolitan Water Board as a trench man.
