Private WALTER JOHN HOCKNELL of the 11th battalion The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment) died of wounds on 3 October 1918, aged 19. There were three Casualty Clearing Stations in this area and the troops nicknamed them Bandaghem, Mendinghem and Dozinghem.)

He is buried in Haringhe (Bandaghem) Military Cemetery near Ypres

He is remembered on the war memorial at St Peter’s church, Brockley.
