Hill, George

Dates: [c.1895-1917]

War Service: George Hill enlisted as a Private on 3rd September 1914 and served on the Western Front with the 7th Battalion The Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment). His service number was G/1018. He was reported missing in action 3 May 1917 and is commemorated on Bay 7 on the Arras memorial.

Location of Memorial: Private Hill is remembered on the war memorial at the church of St Luke's, Deptford.

Details: His parents were George and Elizabeth Hill of 10 Blackhorse Road, Deptford. He had two brothers Tom and Charles and three sisters Maud, Hilda and Lily. At the time of his enlistment in 1914 he was employed as a sawyer.
