Gunner L/32077 JAMES ALFRED HEMS of ā€˜Cā€™ battery, 119 Brigade, Royal Field Artillery was killed in action on 17 June 1917, aged 33.

He is buried in New Irish Farm cemetery near Ypres.

He is also remembered on the memorial at the Church of St James, Hatcham.

Details:
He was the husband of Ada F. Hems, of 14, Liardet St., New Cross. They married in West Ham in the summer of 1904.
