War Service:
Private L/10418 FREDERICK GEORGE HEAD of 1st battalion The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment) was killed in action on 14 September 1914.

He has no known grave and is commemorated on the La Ferte-sous-Jouarre memorial.

The La Ferte-sous-Jouarre Memorial commemorates nearly 4,000 officers and men of the British Expeditionary Force who died in August, September and the early part of October 1914 and who have no known grave.

Location of Memorial:
He is also remembered on the memorial at the church of St James, Hatcham.

He was the son of Mr and Mrs G Head of 134 Woodpecker Road, New Cross. Before the war he was a machinist.
