Flying Officer HERBERT WILLIAM HAZELL Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve was killed on 15 January 1945 while serving with 625 Squadron. He was 23. His Lancaster ‘CF-Z’ was lost on a raid on the Leuna synthetic oil plant at Merseburg.

He is commemorated on the Air Forces Memorial at Runnymede.

He is remembered in the Brockley County School Book of Remembrance.

He was the son of Herbert and Lily Hazell, of Catford.
