Lieutenant KENNETH O'GORMAN HARVARD of the 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards died on 1 August 1917, aged 20.
He is buried in Artillery Wood cemetery, near Ypres in Belgium.
Location of Memorial:
He was remembered on the memorial at Malvern House School, Lewisham Park, which was destroyed in an air raid during the Second World War. He is also commemorated on the Wesleyan Church Memorial at Sydenham and on the family grave in Brockley Cemetery.
Details:
He was born 4 June 1897, in Lewisham, the son of Thomas Mawson Harvard, "Woodfield," New Malden, Surrey. He attended St Olave’s Grammar School between 1906 and 1910. His death was reported in The Times of 10 August 1917. His brother Lionel also served with the Grenadier Guards and was killed on 30 March 1918.
