War Service: William Henry Hamilton served as a Private with the 8th Battalion The Buffs (East Kent Regiment) and his service number was S/10805. He died on the 11th August 1917.

Location of Memorial: He is commemorated on Panel 12 and 14 at Ypres (Menin Gate) memorial and he is remembered locally on the war memorial at the church of St Luke, Deptford.

Details: William Henry Hamilton was born in Deptford in 1892 and before the war was employed as a dock labourer. His parents were John and Emma Hamilton and they lived at 30 Blackhorse Road, Deptford. He had three brothers John, Victor and James, and two sisters Grace and Mabel. He was married to Alice Hamilton, who died in 1915, and together they had two sons, William Henry and John Alfred. His brother, John Alfred Hamilton is also remembered on the war memorial at St Luke's Church.
