Gwynn, George Edward Charles

War Service:
Able Seaman P/JX250065 GEORGE EDWARD CHARLES GWYNN was a gunner on the Defensively Equipped Merchant Ship SS Registan.

He was reported Missing Presumed Killed on 28 September 1942 after the ship was torpedoed by U322 about 140 miles East of Barbados.
Eleven crew members and five DEMS gunners were lost. The master, 34 crew members and three gunners were picked up on 30 September by the Argentinian merchant ship Rio Neuquen and landed at Pernambuco.

He was lost at sea and is commemorated on the He is remembered on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial.

Details:
He was 30 years old, the son of George J. and Lydia M. Gwynn. He married Elsie Martin in Lewisham in the summer of 1935.
