Corporal 11646 ERNEST THOMAS GRIFFITHS of the 7th battalion Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment) died of gunshot wounds on 4 June 1917. He enlisted in Catford on 16 December 1915 at the age of 21 and was posted to the 11th (Lewisham) battalion Royal West Kents. Ernest was made up to corporal in May 1916 and posted to the 7th battalion RWK in July.
He is buried in Achiet-le-Grand Communal Cemetery.

He is remembered on the war memorial at St Hilda’s church, Brockley
Details:
He was born in Brockley and lived at 189 Crofton Park Road. He had previously worked as a milkman. His older brother Alfred joined up at the same time. Alfred died in April 1917.
