Green, Charles

Dates: c1888-1917

War Service: Charles Green served as a Private with the 2nd Battalion Royal Fusiliers and his service number was 67348. He died on 1st November 1917 and is buried at Minty Farm Cemetery.

Location of Memorial: There is a plaque in his memory at Millwall Football Club.

Details: Charles Green was the son of Mr C Green, a wood merchant of 9 Prince Street, Deptford. He was baptised 1 April 1888 at St Marks, Deptford.

On then 1911 census he was recorded living at 9 Prince Street with his father, Charles, and his step mother, Jane. He was 23 and was employed as a carman. He was also a reserve player for Millwall.

He married Eleanor Ann Matilda Lay on 25 December 1912 at St Nicholas Church, Deptford.
