Company Sergeant Major JOHN THOMAS GRAYSMARK of the 6th Battalion London Regiment (City of London Rifles) died on 9 February 1917, aged 37. He was Mentioned in Despatches and awarded the Croix de Guerre with Palms.

He is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery near Ypres.

He is remembered in the Book of Remembrance at St Saviour’s Church, Forest Hill.

Details:
He was the husband of Florence R. Walters (formerly Graysmark), of 24A, Ewart Road, Forest Hill. His brothers William and the youngest Ernest Jospeh died during World War 1. They were 3 of the 6 children of George [1855 - 1914] and Emily Graysmark 44, Brookehouse Road, Bellingham and previously of Forest Hill where the children were born.
