19 year old Merchant Navy Apprentice ERIC WALTER ARMSTRONG GLENNY died on 20 September 1941 when the MV Cingalese Prince was torpedoed by U111 in the Atlantic. Twenty survivors were picked up after several days but 57 of those on board were lost including Eric.

He was lost at sea and is commemorated on the Merchant Navy Memorial on Tower Hill.

He is remembered on the memorial at Perry Rise Baptist Church.

He was the son of Walter and Elizabeth Glenny of Beckenham.
