Company Sergeant Major ALBERT ARTHUR GILES of the 20th Battalion the London Regiment died on 5 December 1917, at No.15 Casualty Clearing Station from wounds sustained at Cambrai. He joined the London Regiment on 2 September 1914 and was awarded the Military Medal after the Battle of the Somme.

He is buried and remembered in Achiet-le-Grand Communal cemetery extension near Arras

He is remembered on the memorial at St Stephen’s Church Lewisham High Street and on the war memorial of the Sydenham, Forest Hill & District Tradesmen’s Benefit Society and also on the 20th London Regiment Roll of Honour.

Details:
He was 25 years old, the son of William and Annie Giles, of 61 Algernon Road, Lewisham. He was educated at St Stephen's school, Lewisham and went on to be a clerk.
