Dates: 1894-1919

War Service: William J Garnham served as a Lance Corporal with the 1st/6th Battalion Devonshire Regiment and his service number was 267277. He died on 31st July 1919, aged 25, at Endell Military Hospital.

Location of Memorial: He is buried in Brockley cemetery, where his name is recorded on the screen wall listing those whose graves have no headstone.

Details: William Garnham was born c.1894 in Deptford. In 1901 he was recorded living at 4 Eckington Gardens, Deptford with his parents, James and Agnes, his brother Alfred, his sisters Alice, Mary Ann and Agnes, and his half sisters Caroline and Emily.

In 1911 he was recorded living 4 Eckington Gardens, Deptford with his mother and sisters Alice, Mary Ann, Agnes and Margaretta Alexander. He is employed as a driller in a signal department.

His army papers list his next of kin as Agnes Victoria Garnham.
