Gardner, Walter George

War Service: Walter George Gardner served as an Electrical Artificer 4th Class in the Royal Navy aboard H.M.S. "Victoryā€¯. His service number was M/27779. He died on 26th March 1919 and is buried at Brockley Cemetery.

Location of Memorial: He is buried in Brockley cemetery where his name is recorded on the screen wall listing those whose graves have no headstone.

Details: Walter George Gardner was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gardner, of Greenwich and husband of Dorothy Rose Gardner, of 56 Tanners Hill, Deptford, London.

In 1911 he was living at 103 South Street, Greenwich with his parents William and Alice. He had a brother Frederick and two sisters Doris and Kathleen.

He married Dorothy Rose Bridgett on 10th September 1916 at St John's Church Deptford. He was employed as an instrument maker. They had a son, Walter W T Gardner, born 1917.
