Gardiner, Thomas William


War Service:
Lieutenant THOMAS WILLIAM GARDINER of 10th battalion Gloucestershire Regiment died on 16 December 1944, aged 30. He had been seconded to the Gloucesters from the Kings Own Royal Regiment (Lancaster), possibly as a replacement for one of the casualties incurred in the 10th battalion’s hard fighting against the Japanese in November 1943.

He is buried in Taukkyan War Cemetery near Rangoon.

He is also remembered on the Sydenham South Suburban Gas Works war memorial.

He was the son of Alexander and Ellen Gardiner and husband of Dorothy Irene Gardiner, of Hayes.
