Private 16897 SAMUEL EDWARD FROGGATT of ‘B’ Company, 3rd battalion Worcestershire Regiment died of wounds on 20 July 1916, aged 25.

He is buried in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery. Throughout the war there were numerous military hospitals in the Boulogne area and it seems likely that Samuel Froggatt died in one of them.

Location of Memorial:

He is believed to be the S E Frogget whose name appears on on the memorial in Chiesman’s department store which formerly stood in Lewisham High Street on the site now occupied by the police station.

Details:

He was the son of Samuel Edward and Elizabeth Froggatt, of 20, St. Stephen's Rd., Lewisham.
