Sergeant 5421 WILLIAM JAMES FOWLER of 1st battalion Rifle Brigade was killed in action on 29 March 1918, aged 22.
He is buried in Roclincourt Valley cemetery near Arras.

He is also remembered on the memorial at the church of St James, Hatcham.
Details:
He was the son of William James and Sarah Fowler, of 99, Florence Road, New Cross. He had previously served with the Kings Shropshire Light Infantry.
His brother Walter died in November 1915 while also serving with the 1st battalion.
