Sergeant NORMAN KENNETH FORD, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died on 25 December 1942, while serving with 135 Squadron.

Having lost most of its equipment trying to stem the Japanese invasion of Burma, the squadron was withdrawn to India in March 1942. Until February 1943 its Hurricanes were employed on convoy escort duties.

Location of Memorial:
He is buried in Calcutta (Bhowanipore) Cemetery and remembered on the Sydenham South Suburban Gas Works war memorial.

Details:
He was the son of Arthur and Kate Ford, of Sydenham.
