Forbes, George

Dates: [1895-1917]

War Service: George Forbes served as a Private with the 6th Battalion Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment) and his service number was G/1135. He enlisted on 1st September 1914 and served on the Western Front where he died of his wounds on 31st January 1917. He is buried at Avesnes-Le-Comte Communal Cemetery Extension in grave III. B. 23.

Location of Memorial: He is remembered on the war memorial at the church of St Luke, Deptford.

Details: George Forbes was born in 1895 in Deptford and before enlisting in the Army he was employed as a factory hand.
