Flaherty, John Ernest

Dates: [1894-1918]

War Service: John Ernest Flaherty served as a Second Lieutenant in the 6th Battalion Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex) Regiment. He died on 12th July 1918 and he is buried at Brockley Cemetery.

Location of Memorial: He is buried in Brockley cemetery where his name is recorded on the screen wall listing those whose graves have no headstone.

Details: John Ernest Flaherty was the son of William Henry and Annie Flaherty. He was baptised on 4th September 1894 at St Katherine's Church, Rotherhithe and at this time his family were living at 52 Reculver Road.

In 1901 he was living at 20 Reculver Road. According to the 1911 census John was working as a railway clerk and was living at 32 Alpine Road, Rotherhithe with his parents. He had one bother, William Frederick, and two sisters Lillian Isobel and Olive.

At the time of his death John's parents were living at 44, St. Norbert Rd., Brockley, London.
