Lieutenant CHARLES RUSSELL HASTINGS FFOLLIOTT died on 10 March 1918 while serving with 18 Squadron, Royal Flying Corps, prior to joining the RFC he had served with the Lincolnshire Regiment.
In February 1918 he had flown as Observer in the DH4 piloted by Canadian ace Alfred Clayburn Atkey when he shot down two of the thirty eight enemy aircraft credited to him.
On 15 April 1918 the London Gazette announced the posthumous award of the Croix de Guerre.
He is buried and remembered in Rue Petillon Military Cemetery, Fleurbaix, near Armentieres
