STUART ANDERSON EWENS served as Private 10956 STUART ANDERSON EVANS in the 1st battalion of the King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment). He died on 2 September 1914.

The battalion landed at Boulogne on 23 August 1914 as part of the original British Expeditionary Force and on 26 August went into action at the battle of Le Cateau, suffering 400 casualties.

He is buried in St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen.

He is remembered on the memorial at the Church of St Catharine, Hatcham.
