Eaton, George

War Service: George Eaton served as a Private with the 8th Battalion The Queen's Own (royal West Kent Regiment) and his service number was 1442. He died on 3rd September 1916 and is buried at IV. B. 71 at Heilly Station Cemetery Mericourt-L’Abbe.

Location of Memorial: Private Eaton is remembered on the war memorial at the church of St Luke's, Deptford.

Details: Born 1893, George James Eaton was the son of Robert Alfred and Emma Susan Eaton. In 1911 he was living at 19 Blackhorse Road with his widowed mother and his siblings, Annie, Emma and David. In 1911 he was employed as a sawyer.
