Second Lieutenant ALEXANDER DUNKLEY of the 9th battalion Worcestershire Regiment died on 9 April 1916, aged 24.
He had joined the 9th on 10 June 1915 having previously served with the 12th battalion.

He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Basra Memorial in Iraq. The Basra Memorial commemorates more than 40,500 members of the Commonwealth forces who died in the operations in Mesopotamia from the Autumn of 1914 to the end of August 1921 and whose graves are not known.

He is also remembered on the and on the memorial at Haberdashers' Aske's School in New Cross.

Details:
He was the son of Alfred and Fanny Isabel Dunkley, of 71, Maxey Road, Plumstead. In the summer of 1915 in Woolwich he married Emily Law. They lived at 22, Swettenham Place, Plumstead.
