Dowson, George Charles

War Service:
Rifleman R/35504 GEORGE CHARLES DOWSON of 17th battalion Kings Royal Rifle Corps died of his wounds on 26 July 1918 in No. 3 Scottish general Hospital, Stobhill, Glasgow. He enlisted in the KRRC on December 1916 and was wounded at Mariecourt on 25 March 1918.

He is buried in Hither Green cemetery.

He is remembered on the memorials at Blackheath Congregational Church and Ennersdale School, Hither Green.

Details:
He was born in Lee on 25 January 1889, the son of William and Emily Dowson and educated at Ennersdale Road School. He was a bootmaker by trade. He married Ruby Mary Cross in Blackheath Congregational Church on 19 June 1914.
