Dowling, Edgar John

War Service:
Lance Corporal 9742 EDGAR JOHN DOWLING of 9th battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps died on 17 August 1916, almost certainly of wounds.

He is buried in St Sever cemetery, Rouen. At various periods during the war as many as 16 hospitals were located in the area, many of the dead from which were buried in St Sever.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the war memorial at the church of St Luke, Deptford.

Details:
He was born on 30 April 1887 at 17 Windmill Lane, Deptford, the son of Edgar and Jane Dowling.
