Private G/2366 JOHN DIPPLE of 7th battalion Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment) was killed in action on on 13 July 1916, aged 18.

He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme.

Location of Memorial:
He is also remembered on the memorials at the church of St James, Hatcham and the Mazawattee Tea Company in Deptford.

Details:
He was the son of George H. and Sarah Ann Dipple, of 14, Cottesbrook Street, New Cross. When he enlisted on 8 September 1914 he gave his trade as blacksmith.
