Private 17716 JOHN HENRY DICKS of 6th battalion Wiltshire Regiment died on 3 March 1916.

The battalion had only recently taken over a new stretch of front line trench and time had been spent on 2 March on refurbishing the breastworks. The war diary for 3 March day reads:”2 men of the left company were sniped early in the morning.”
He is buried in Le Touret Military Cemetery, Richebourg - l’Avoue.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the war memorial outside the church of St Hilda in Brockley.
