War Service:
Private 12606 GUY DENNY of 7th ( Service) Battalion the Bedfordshire Regiment (“The Shiny Seventh”) was killed in action on 4 May 1917. At dawn on 3 May 1917 the 7th battalion took part in the unsuccessful attack on Cherisy. Casualties among the battalion’s officers were 6 killed and 8 wounded. Among the 242 casualties from the other ranks were 48 Missing, 4 Missing believed Killed and 3 Missing & Wounded.

It is probable that Guy Denny was among those reported missing as he is commemorated on the Arras Memorial which records the names of those who have no known grave.

Location of Memorial:
His name is also recorded in the Book of Remembrance at St Saviour’s church, Forest Hill and on the memorial in the Private Banks Sports Club in Catford..

He was born in Dulwich, lived in Honor Oak and enlisted in Finsbury.
