Dench, Francis George Hurleston

Pilot Officer FRANCIS GEORGE HURLESTON DENCH was killed in action on 13 August 1940 while serving with 15 Squadron. He was 22.

On 13 August Blenheim R3768 took off from RAF Wyton to bomb the airfield at Lannion in Brittany. It crashed at Fermanville 14 km E of Cherbourg. The cause of the crash was not established.

All three crew members are buried in Fermanville churchyard.

Location of Memorial:
Francis Dench is remembered in the Memorial Book at Addey and Stanhope School, Deptford.

Details:
He was the son of Herbert and Helen Dench of Beckenham.
