War Service: William Thomas Day served as a Private with the 9th Battalion Tank Corps and his service number was 308954. He died of his wounds on 2nd April 1918, aged 28, and is buried at Mesnil Communal Cemetery Extension.

Location of Memorial: He is remembered on the St Pauls, Deptford WW1 War Memorial.

Details: William Thomas Day was born c1890 in Deptford to Thomas and Jane Day, of 68 Cranbrook Road, Deptford.

In 1911 he was recorded living at 68 Cranbrook Road, Deptford, with his widowed mother and his sister, Nellie Jane and he was employed as a gas fitter. His father had died in 1902, aged 45.
