Lance Corporal HARRY EDWARD DAWE of the 12th (County of London) Battalion London Regiment (The Rangers) was killed on 1 July 1916, the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
The Rangers took part in the attack on Gommecourt and by the end of the day their losses amounted to 17 officers and 498 other ranks killed, wounded or missing.

He has no known grave and is commemorate on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme

He is remembered on the memorial at Christ Church, Lee.
