Flight Sergeant (Observer) BENJAMIN JOHN DAVIS RAFVR was killed in action on 25 August 1942 while serving with 61 Squadron.

At 2120 on 24 August Lancaster R5662 QR-A took off from Syerston in Nottinghamshire to bomb Frankfurt. The aircraft crashed near Cologne killing all on board.

They were originally buried locally but their bodies were later re-interred in Rheinberg War Cemetery.

Location of Memorial:
He is remembered in the Book of Remembrance at Addey and Stanhope School, Deptford.

Details:
He was 21 years old, the son of Benjamin and Helen Davis, of New Cross.
