His Service is rembered on the New Cross, Haberdashers' Aske’s Boys' School South African War Memorial
He was one of the first to volunteer for service in South Africa. He was given charge of a squadron of Ambulance men and in 1900 he was serving at a hospital at Winburg. Before volunteering he was a chartered accountant working for a firm based in the City of London.
