War Service:
Private 65708 BRYON COVELL of 13th battalion Royal Fusiliers died of wounds on 6 August 1917. He enlisted in Faversham in the Royal West Surrey Regiment before transferring to the Royal Fusiliers.
He is buried in Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension. .
Location of Memorial:
He is remembered on the war memorial at St Dunstan’s College and in the pages of the History of the Old Dunstonians Rugby Football Club.
Details:
He was born in 1895 in Catford, where his father was a farmer. He attended St Dunstan’s College from 1905 to 1910. In 1903 his father allowed the newly formed Old Dunstonians Rugby Club to use one of his fields at White Foot Lane as a pitch rent free. On leaving school he took up farming and when war broke out he was working in Preston.
