Courquin, Edmund

War Service: Edmund Courquin was a Stoker 1st Class in the Royal Navy. His service number was K/16823. He died 1st June 1916 whilst serving on the HMS Fortune at the Battle of Jutland.

Location of Memorial: He is commemorated on panel 17 on the Portsmouth Naval memorial and on the war memorial at St Paul's Church, Deptford.

Details: Edmund Courquin was the son of Edmund and Elizabeth Courquin of 53 Baildon Street, Deptford, London. He was born 16th September 1894 and baptised 27th December 1899 at St. Georges Church, Camberwell.

In 1911 he was living with his family at 166 Creek Road, Deptford and was employed as a merchant seaman. He had four sisters Minnie, Florence, Rose and Mabel.
