Cook, George Henry

War Service: George Henry Cook served as a Private with the 2nd Battalion Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry and his service number was 5378003. He died on 26th April 1941 aged 35.

Location of Memorial:He is buried in Brockley cemetery, where his name is recorded on the screen wall listing those whose graves have no headstone.

Details: George Henry Cook was the son of Herbert William and Esther Cook, of New Cross. He was baptised on 22nd January 1905 at St Nicholas Church, Deptford. At this time the family were living at 39 Dorking Road, Deptford.

In 1911 he was recorded living at 34 Czar Street, Deptford with his parents Esther and Herbert William. He had two sisters Ivy and Violet Rosetta.
