Second Lieutenant ERIC ABLEY CLAXTON of the 18th battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps died of wounds on 31 July 1916, aged 21. Before being commissioned he had served as a private in the Inns of Court Officer Training Corps.

He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Menin Gate

He is remembered on the memorial at Blackheath Congregational Church.

Details:
He was the son of the Rev. Arthur E. and Frances Alice Claxton, of The London Missionary Society (China).
